Mark Filby - The Webmaster.

What about me?

I am your volunteer webmaster and welcome to my personal page on The Filby Association website.

My personal connection to the association is relatively recent and I am only now beginning to research my own family history. My grandfather (Wilfred Harold Filby - born 03/02/1910) was in contact with the association prior to his death in 1980 and he was always incredibly proud of the family name - I can only hope to contribute in some small way to assisting in the further development of the association.

I have a full time occupation (http://www.securityfoiling.co.uk), a family life and many hobbies including motorcycling, real ale and an allotment.

I was born in Ipswich (UK) and still live in the county of Suffolk close to my extended family. The neighbouring county of Norfolk is of course where much of the Filby history begins. For those of you that have never been to Norfolk or Suffolk I have attached some links below. It is a very beautiful area of the UK and has some unique landscapes and history.

I will add more information about me and what I am upto as time goes on.....

About the website

The current site has been carefully developed by our Manager - Jim Filby winning a 'commended' award from the Federation of Family History Society (FFHS). I have a lot to live up too!

I have recently re-formatted the site (January 2010) and will continue to make small changes over the coming months. It is a 'work in progress' but we hope it is interesting and informative and you will keep revisiting - you may also want to contribute!.

As the webmaster I only publish material that has been approved by our Manager for publishing and so all new material, suggestions, comments and ideas for development should be submitted to Jim in the first instance. I am very keen to keep the site 'fresh' and so all ideas and new material will be very gratefully received.

One of the Associations key objectives is to only publish personal information with the express permission of those people mentioned. The website will only show your personal information if you give your express permission. If any material refers to other people then the association will also want the express permission of those mentioned before publishing.

If you have any objection to any information published on this website please contact our Manager following the e-mail link at the foot of each page and Jim will ask me to remove or amend the information promptly. We all appreciate the need to protect personal data and the sensitive nature of information recorded in family histories make this especially important. We will endeavour to make every effort to ensure your information is only published where you give your permission and only for as long as you want it published.

Above all though, please enjoy the site and join The Filby Association, only with your input can we hope to assist those building their family trees, tracing family members/old friends etc. and perhaps even making many new friends!
